Sometimes, to achieve a refreshed look in your home, all you need to do is paint a particular area of your house. Each piece needs to be approached in slightly different ways and also requires different tools to get the best results possible, I have been a painter in Chesterfield and i know what i am saying. One of the easiest places to paint is the ceiling, especially if the surface is simply flat with no molding or chipped paint to work on.
Usually, ceilings are painted white, and this is undoubtedly a good choice, however, you have to think carefully about the kind of white you want to go with. There are different hues, ranging from a warm-toned white to whites with more of a cool blue. Make sure the hue compliments the color of your walls and your décor by bringing color swatches or paint chips with you when choosing your ceiling color.
If you have low ceilings, make sure they are painted a shade or two lighter than your walls so as to add height, and a shade or two darker if your ceilings are high. Nevertheless, white doesn’t have to be your only choice. With the proper room and architecture, using a contrasting color to paint your ceiling can add some excitement to your room.
Though painting the ceiling is an easy task, you need to ensure you tape your walls and cover them with a drop cloth. It is also of import to remove all curtains and pictures from the walls and also remove as much furniture as you can so as to have a clear access to the ceiling from all points in the room.
It is somewhat easier to paint the walls and ceiling at the same time, although if you are going to paint them in different colors, you will need to make sure you protect one from the other just like if you were painting only the ceiling. In cases involving painting walls and ceiling together, start with the ceiling and work your way down.
To start, “cut in” the edges and other odd areas, such as lights, woodworks and ceiling fans. A small brush of 1″ or less should be used for this task. After this is done, you can begin rolling the ceiling. Using a roller on the ceiling is more simple and easy than using even a large brush unless your area is exceptionally small.
If the room is large, you don’t have to wait for the paint to dry before starting your second coat. However, you have to make sure the first coat is dry so that you can avoid flaws.
